We’re pleased to share the latest episode of ‘spotLights’, our interview series highlighting the people behind the most exciting biological preprints. This episode is the second in a series recorded live at the Biologists @ 100 conference in Liverpool, which took place in March 2025.

Our guest this time is Dr Jenny Richens, Lab Manager of the St Johnston Group at the University of Cambridge, UK, who joins us to discuss the preprint (now: paper in PLOS Biology) she presented at the conference. In this episode, moderated by Dr Jonathan Townson, she reflects on the challenges she and her team faced in getting to the preprint stage and the unique benefits of sharing scientific work ahead of formal peer-reviewed publication.
