spotLights hits episode 10

14 May 2025

We’re excited to announce the release of episode 10 of spotLights, the latest in our special series recorded at the Biologists @ 100 conference in Liverpool.

In this episode, we speak with Helena Crellin, a PhD student in the lab of Clare Buckley at the University of Cambridge. In her recent preprint, Helena and team introduce a novel optogenetic technique in zebrafish.

Helena: “We were really excited by this technical advance because it let us look at how forces are propagated through complex tissues during development.”

The conversation with preLighter Jonathan Townson offers a fascinating look at a powerful new tool in developmental biology, as well as a thoughtful discussion on the value of sharing work through preprints.
