The art of creating a graphical abstract: SciArt workshop recap

As part of the preLights Ambassador programme, we recently hosted a SciArt workshop led by the wonderful Sonhita Chakraborty (featured on the Node). During this workshop, which was suggested by preLights Ambassador Shreya Pramanik, the participants explored the art of visual storytelling in science. The session began with an introduction to the principles of designing effective graphical abstracts—key visual tools that help communicate the core message of a scientific story or preprint at a glance.

Following the introductory session, participants rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on practical where we collaboratively created graphical abstracts for three selected preprints. These visuals were designed to turn complex research into engaging, accessible summaries.
