I am a second-year student in the British Heart Foundation Doctoral Training Programme, studying at Imperial College London. The facet of biology that best captures my attention is the pathological mechanisms of human non-communicable disease. I am motivated by an innate curiosity, as well as the positive impact on society that increased knowledge offers through improving disease management and facilitating therapeutic development. As such, the focus of my research is the involvement of epicardial adipose tissue in atrial fibrillation, which I am approaching from a molecular perspective through transcriptomic and proteomic analysis of human tissue. This project has developed my interests beyond a foundation of cell and molecular biology into bioinformatics, pharmacology and, I expect, more to come.
