Ivan Mikicic
I am currently a PhD student in the Petra Beli lab at the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) in Mainz, Germany. My research focuses on replication stress signaling and the resolution of nucleic acid structures called R-loops. I use a variety of experimental approaches, ranging from proteomics to high-content microscopy and genomics. My scientific interests are broad and include genome (in)stability and cancer, PTM signaling (phosphorylation, ubiquitylation), RNA biology, DNA repair, interplay between replication, transcription and RNA processing, protein condensates… And probably some more!
During my PhD, I became interested in communicating about science and scientists, and thinking about topics like science policy, assessment, education and management. I also try to find some time for other interests, such as music and sport 🙂
