Rohan Khadilkar

University of British Columbia

I am a developmental biologist currently working as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Guy Tanentzapf at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. I received my PhD in Developmental Biology and Stem cells from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India where I worked with Prof. Maneesha S. Inamdar. I am studying the role of intercellular communication in the maintenance of stem cell homeostasis in the Drosophila hematopoietic system. I am also trying to understand how immune challenges like bacterial infection or parasite infestation affect the behavior of the niche-stem cell micro-environment in the blood system.

Apart from science, I am also training in Indian classical music which has been one of my passions!
