I am currently a fourth-year PhD Candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of
Medicine at Mount Sinai. My research focuses on understanding the fibrosis mechanisms for
novel drug target discovery in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). I am
particularly interested in cell signaling pathways, disease mechanisms, and drug target
discovery.
Coming from Vietnam, I earned my Bachelor’s in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison and my MS in Biotechnology from the University of
Pennsylvania. My research has taken me from neglected tropical diseases to protein
characterization for pesticide design and now to studying fibrosis mechanisms in MASH. These
experiences have fostered my curiosity about how fundamental biological mechanisms can
translate into therapeutic discoveries. Outside of the lab, I enjoy trying new restaurants and
bakeries, cooking, baking, and documenting it on my food Instagram @tranto.food.
