Almut Kelber is a Professor at Lund University, where she studies the visual ecology of animals – including birds and butterflies, moths and bees, frogs and toads. She has also been an Editor for Journal of Experimental Biology (JEB) since 2014. Presently, she works as Director of Research Grants for the Human Frontiers Science Program Organisation in Strasbourg.
During her PhD with Jochen Zeil at the University of Tübingen, Germany, Almut carried out research on flight control and visual orientation in stingless bees in southern Brazil. During her first post-do project, she became interested in hummingbird hawkmoths and studied their colour vision and flower preferences. She later moved to Canberra, Australia, to work on colour vision of orchard butterflies. Moving to Lund University she further expanded her research, and has been a professor there since 2007.
