After completing a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, with a thesis titled “Evaluation of the protein composition of Bothrops asper venom and determination of possible differential effects on antivenom therapy between northern and southern regions of Guatemala,” I continued my research career by pursuing a Master’s degree in Biological Chemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. There, in collaboration with researchers from Guatemala, we investigate the venoms of understudied snakes and lizards from Central America—particularly those belonging to the genera Heloderma, Metlapilcoatlus, Bothrops, and Micrurus—with an emphasis on studying and producing peptides with potential therapeutic applications.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (2023). My experience lies in Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Molecular Biology, focusing primarily on biomolecules, macromolecular biochemistry, thrombosis, envenomation, and proteomics.
