I am an early career research fellow in the Evolutionary, Morphology and Biomechanics (EMB) group at the University of Liverpool. I have a broad range of research interests but would consider my primary interest to be in adaptive remodelling (physiological and pathophysiological) of the microvascular system and its impact on muscle function. Having completed my PhD at the University of Leeds, my thesis focused on the regulation of skeletal muscle microvascular composition in response to distinct mechanotransductive stimuli. Following on from this I undertook a postdoctoral research project exploring the therapeutic potential of neuro-modulation on the recovery of locomotor function following severe spinal cord injury. After this I moved to the EMB group at the University of Liverpool where I undertook a research project characterizing the in vivo kinematics, kinetics and physiology of mastication.
