Suraj Kannan

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

My name is Suraj Kannan and I am a current MD/PhD candidate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. I work in the lab of Dr. Chulan Kwon, and am interested in pathways underlying cardiac myocyte maturation. I am particularly interested in marrying classical developmental biology approaches with new tools in bioinformatics (particularly through analysis of single cell RNA-sequencing data) to better understand how cardiac tissues develop to reach their final adult phenotype. Outside of developmental biology, I am also interested in issues regarding patient-centered care, and have worked with Dr. Zackary Berger on projects related to shared decision-making.
