Phase separation
A preprint list to follow the burgeoning field of phase separation in biological processes.

Endocytosis caused by liquid-liquid phase separation of proteins
https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/145664v3?%3Fcollection=
This preprint shows that some proteins involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis contain prion-like domains that allow formation of biomolecular condensates of these complexes. Their data also suggests that such condensates may be able to perform important mechanical functions such as deforming the plasma membrane.
The Glycolytic Protein Phosphofructokinase Dynamically Relocalizes into Subcellular Compartments with Liquid-like Properties in vivo
https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/636449v1
Contrary to a textbook notion of soluble, homogenous metabolic enzymes, a previous study (Webb et al., 2017) showed that a human liver isoform of the glycolytic enzyme phosphofructokinase (PFK) can assemble into filaments in vitro. This preprint demonstrates that PFK has a distinct sub-cellular organisation in C. elegans muscle and can form transient, phase separated condensates in C. elegans neurons.
