University of Oregon

I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon — I’m recruiting at all levels, please check out the lab website and get in touch!

I am interested in symmetry and asymmetry during development and growth. How does the developing embryo break left-right symmetry so that many of the organs attain asymmetrical positions and patterns? At the same time, how do some structures, such as the spine and limbs, retain left-right symmetry?

I use a combination of genetics, embryology, confocal imaging, and high-throughput sequencing to tackle these questions, primarily using the zebrafish model system.
